HDMI upconversion in an affordable box
Pros
HDMI upconversion for significantly less than the previous 999 option.
Cons
HDMI cannot be used with component, so limits to only 2 hd inputs.
Recommended it?
Yes
For those who are new to HD, but have a lot of stereo equipment, you have a dilemma. You can: buy all new equipment, purchase all equipment from the same vendor, buy a programmable remote with macro capabilities, or purchase a receiver that will upconvert all the signals into a single input in your TV. If your TV has an HDMI input that you would like to use, then this receiver is the ticket. It is capable of taking in composite, s-video, component, and HDMI, and put it it out in HDMI format.
The only downside is that it is limited to only TWO hd inputs. Each one can be EITHER component or HDMI. It is not clear that this is the case unless you read the manual very carefully, or notice that the labels are the same on the inputs on the back.
