5-Disc Changer for slight budget

bybde4 Jan 24, 2000
Pros Compulink System, for economically minded, able to change 4 discs while fifth plays
Cons no digital output, tray does not open completely
Recommended it? Yes
I purchased this specific JVC cd-changer about a year ago, after upgrading from one of JVC's comparable cd-players, although a single-disc model. This changer is a great buy for anyone who wants a quality player, but is on a slight budget. If connected to any decent stereo or surround receiver, it has extremely bright and highly undistorted sound, as a result of its dB rating of 106. Another great feature of this player, as with all JVC players is that when connected to a JVC cassette deck using the "compulink system," you can make cassette copies of cd's with the touch of one button. Another great feature is that it has an exchange function, thus enabling you to change 4 of the discs while the fifth disc continues to play. However, one drawback is that the tray does not fully open, although you can change 3 discs before having to move the tray. Another nice feature is the 1-bit D/A converter, although a digital output probably would have been a better idea in order to make exact copies to DAT or mini-disc.
