Nice idea, but too many problems

Pros Convenience of all CDs in the player
Cons Too many mechanical problems, tedious entering titles, slow
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  There are other, better options.
I purchased this player when I upgraded my stereo equipment. I liked the idea of not having to put CDs away, since no one else in the house did it.

Initially I loaded all of the CDs in alphabetical order by artist, and entered the title and artist for each individual CD. This was a very slow process, and I believe at the time we had about 100 CDs.

After a few months, we began to have problems with certain CDs skipping. At first, you could get around the problem by skipping the first song. Eventually all of the CDs skipped. Since it was still under warranty, we took it in for repair.

Things were good, for a little while. Then the process began to repeat itself. It started with the same CDs, so I am suspicious those may be damaged, although no other players have trouble with them. Back to the shop, and this time they replaced parts in the CD player.

On return, the player played CDs without trouble, but made even more noise when changing CDs (it already makes a lot). When it started skipping a third time (now out of warranty), we gave up and replaced it with a hard drive/mp3 player and recorded all of the CDs on that.

This whole process took about 2 years, with the initial problems developing after 6 months.

When the unit was taken to the shop the first time, all of the names were deleted from the memory. Rather than re-enter them all, I just created a spreadsheet and printed out versions sorted by name and artist. This also made more sense in the fact that any time you add a CD, either it won't be in alphabetical order, or you'll have to do a lot of re-entering.

The sound quality of the unit was excellent with an optical cable, and it integrated well with other JVC components. When I entered the names of the CDs, the player would send the info to the receiver, which would then display the info.

While I liked the overall idea, I was very disappointed with my experience, and would probably not by a jukebox CD player ever again.
