Jasco GE 98903 2.1 Speakers

I bought this for my high school classroom in the hopes of using it to provide sound for my projector at a budget price (no reimbursement from the school district!) I actually believe that the computer speaker itself might be slightly louder than the output these speakers put out. The sound is whisper-quiet, hard to hear unless you press your ear against the small satellite speaker itself. The box says it can be used for iPods, but I think just using the ear buds that come with it would be a more satisfactory solution given the bulkiness of the product. There's also a headphone jack for these speakers...why? This only plugs into iPods and computers!
