My girlfriend was looking for a CD player for her car and wanted a budget system which could meet her needs as a basic no-frills CD player. I have a middle of the line Alpine in my car which I'm very happy with, so she was looking for something comparable yet more affordable. After some shopping around we settled on the Jenson CD615X. This is your basic cd player which was among the lowest priced models around. It's main features were 45 watts per channel (x4), and a removable face plate. The controls are relatively simple to operate and conveniently placed which is a big plus with car audio. The sound turned out to be ok, which is to say not excellent, but passable. (I'm assuming that her factory speakers are quite a bit below par as compared with mine and that accounts for this as the Jensen has 10 more watts per channel than my 2 year old Alpine).
The major drawback with this head unit is that it skips very easily. This is a major drawback which in my opinion is the single most important feature of an Audio CD player.
Therefore I wouldn't recommend purchasing this item unless you live somewhere with really smooth roads (do a lot of highway driving only) or just absolutely can't afford anything else although I'd probably try another brand name in the same price range (we saw Sony's and Kenwoods, although neither one is known to be 'Cadillac' in Audio).
I've read some others opinions stating that the buttons are cheaply made and break off easily. We haven't had ours long enough, but it's something to be careful about as well.
