Nice but has some quality issues

Pros Supposedly supports lots of Media formats
Cons Handles some media formats poorly
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Consider this unit only if you will be sticking to traditional media types and formats such as commercial DVD discs.
I've had this unit for 2 weeks now, and while it is feature packed for the money, I am disappointed about a few things.

Here's what's great:
1. Supports a wide variety of media (audio and video) formats.
2. Picture quality is impressive for the price.
3. Built in TV tuner is a real treat.
4. Includes 2 TV antennas, which many other brands don't include.

Now, here's what's not so great:
1. There is no dimmer function. At night the screen is very bright in the car and becomes annoying. The only way to dim the screen is to use the brightness control, which still doesn't dim the screen enough. Or you have to use the screen stand by feature which blanks the screen out completely, but as soon as you touch a button on the unit (volume control for instance) the screen comes back on and requires that you manually shut it off again to reduce night time glare.
There should be a "dark mode", where the screen will automatically dim by 50% - 75% after 5-10 seconds of inactivity, and then brighten automatically when an audio or video control is accessed.
2. You can't view a picture slide show from SD card or CD/DVD and listen to music at the same time. This unit can only do 1 thing at a time.
3. The audio EQ options are very basic. Essentially Bass and Treble adjustment is all that is offered in addition to a few preset "so called" EQ settings. A five band EQ would have been appreciated.
4. The TV tuner isn't very strong and doesn't pull in TV stations as well as I'd like, but it looks great when it does. So far in the Chicago area, I haven't been able to resolve a picture for Channel 2 (CBS) even in the heart of downtown which is close to the broadcast towers.
5. Despite what some advertisements state, there is only one Audio+video AUX input.
6. Switching sources (Tuner to DVD, or SD Card to DVD), can be quite slow.
7. Using good quality 8x DVD-R media, I've had problems with MP3 audio and MPEG4 (DivX) video files playing back correctly. This has happened repeatedly on multiple DVD-R discs to the point where I am strongly considering dumping this unit. Part of its allure is the ability to access massive quantities of media stored on DVD disks, but if it has trouble reading the same disks that work fine in multiple computers, then what's the point.
8. When I do get an MPEG4 file to play, I discovered that adjusting the preset audio EQ settings while an MPEG4 movie is playing back, causes the video file to start playing from the beginning again. This is ridiculous, and points back to my earlier assertion that this unit is only capable of performing one function at a time.
9. If your SD (Secure Digital) card contains picture files. When you insert the card into the unit, it automatically starts a picture slide show. There's no way to turn this auto start feature off either. Preferably, after inserting a SD card, the unit would read the card and display it contents without automatically starting file playback. Actually this problem occurs whenever you switch to from one media source to another, not just SD cards.
10. When listening to music from my iPod via the AUX input, the screen displays a bright solid blue background and never dims, as in #1 above.
11. The Touch Screen user interface design is a bit "cheesy" and cannot be changed.
12. Jensen tech support seemed to have a take it or leave it attitude when I called about some of these issues, and basically had no workarounds to offer.

Over all it's a neat toy, but is definitely not ready for Prime Time in my opinion. I think I'll be dumping this unit in favor of something less expensive with Audio\Video inputs, so I can feed in movies from a portable hard drive based media player.
