The Bottom Line:
Bought used from a private Ebay user. Would recommend this sub. From previous experience it's pretty hard to "break" JL subs.
No complaints with this sub. I wanted to go from having 2 10W1s to a single sub. After much research I decided to go with the 12w6v2. Space considerations & all. The sub hits very well. I have it powered by a JL 500/1 in a custom sealed enclosure built to the JL specs. The bass is very deep & accurate. I listen to a wide variety of music so it was important to get a sub that played across the spectrum of "bass." While the sub is loud it's not as loud as say if it was in a ported box. I would say that in my setup it sounds more accurate than loud. It kind of reminds me of a sub in a home theater setup. When it's called upon you know the sub is there. Otherwise it doesn't overpower (color) the music with a lot of unnecessary bass. Don't get me wrong, it's not to say that the sub is not loud. I guess it just depends on what type of sound system you currently have hence what your ears are accustomed to hearing. If you're accustomed to a system with 2 subs you WILL NOTICE a decrease in sound pressure & loudness. You will not get that bone jarring, spine tingling feel whenever the bass note hits (unless you're in a pick-up truck with the sub directly behind the seat). I will say this also, in my initial research I was considering going with a single 10w6v2. I'm glad I didn't. After listening to the single 12w6v2 I know that it would not have been loud enough for my expectations coming from 2 10W1s.
