I am writing this review from the perspective of someone who bought this player specifically for its built-in speaker. I was looking for a portable CD player that could also be used as a desktop CD player. The problem with this unit is that the sound from its built-in speakers is so weak that you have to keep the player next to your ears to hear it. This defeats the purpose of the speakers.
