GREAT Performace with the Proper Speakers
I have owned my KLH 7000 6.1 receiver for about 6 months. I paid $99 for the receiver and am more than happy with it. I recently purchased a JBL SCS180.6S system for $229 (Free shipping and, of course, no tax). The 100W per channel of the KLH 7000 are a perfect match for this JBL speaker setup. The... KLH7000 great value, great quality
I bought this reciever from best buy about a year ago. As of yet I have not had any problems whatsoever with it. For the price, i was skeptical that it was going to perform very well, but at the time I didn't care. At first I didn't demand much of it other than playing my 2 year old's copy of Shrek... Will burn itself out - but fix is possible
I had a problem with popping and then no audio for an extended period of time. I found the solution on another site, http://dexsoft.com/blog/?p=15
Apparently the solder joints are weak, and just a the blog described when I opened up the receiver I saw the same scorch marks from overheating...

Problems with KLH recievers?
Everyone's KLH reciever seems to be burning up. My cousin has had his for about 3 years now. His brother had the 2400 series and it burned. What he did was he upgraded to a 5100 series and place 2 fans on top of the reciever for more ventilation. He has had his 5100 for about 4 years now. I also... Read full review »
Welcome to the age of Disposable Electronics
This is a great system if you are trying to save money and get a lot of features. It has digital audio, S-video, component video, and plenty of power.
But don't count on it lasting forever.
The first problem I noticed was an annoying buzz that is impossible to get rid of at low level...

3 years, no problems.
I own 2 KLH tuners, an R5000 5.1 in the living room and an R7000 6.1 in the bedroom and have had no problem with either of them. Both provide reliable sound (well, for an apartment dweller who's not trying to frighten the neighbors.)
I use them mostly for watching DVDs and playing video...

KLH? NEVER again!
6.1, 600W, etc, etc. It had an amazing amount of features for the price. I bought mine at Best Buy for around $150 on sale. Couldn't say no to that deal at the time. Would I have known that this receiver had a 6 month lifespan, I would have passed. I've had a Sony for over 12 yrs and it still works... Read full review »
Amen to that
Mine lasted about as long. It was a big disappointment because the unit worked just great and had all the features anyone would want. Unfortunately, about a month ago, something sizzled inside the unit and it shut down. I waited a few minutes and it came right back up and hasn't failed until today... Read full review »
Don't do it
I bought one of these last year, and it only lasted 11 months and then it died. There is only a 90 day warranty, and customer service told me there is nothing they can do. Read full review »
