Welcome to the age of Disposable Electronics
Pros
Lots of features for little money.
Cons
Nice features disappear too quickly when cheap components burn out.
Recommended it?
No
This is a great system if you are trying to save money and get a lot of features. It has digital audio, S-video, component video, and plenty of power.
But don't count on it lasting forever.
The first problem I noticed was an annoying buzz that is impossible to get rid of at low level volumes. Try turning down the volume all the way to min and you will hear it drown out all background noise.
Next, the S-video went out and I had to revert to an external switching device for video.
Forget video, it is still good for audio , right????
Not so fast.... Later on the Dolby Digital audio went out and now it only works with analog audio. When I try to watch a DVD with Dolby digital, all I get is noise and crackle.
At this point, all of the nice extra features I got for a huge savings are no longer working.
I guess in the end you get what you pay for.
I could buy another and expect it to last maybe 1-2 years as well, or just go ahead and fork out the extra dough for something with more quality.
