I was surprised
Pros
Good sensitivity and selectivity, compact, good price, SSB mode, and fast tuning through SW
Cons
The volume is confusing to adjust. The analog horizontal bar moves in increments.

The Bottom Line:
It is a very good buy because it beats radios that are triple its price.
I purchased this for $79.95 through Ebay. It's a small sized receiver for what it can do. I also have a Radioshack DX-398, which was $200 when I purchased it 5 years ago, and the KA-1103 has it beat in my opinion. The sensitivity and selectivity is good on both AM and especially FM (slightly better FM than the DX-398). The FM band starts at 76 MHz, which allows me to tune to my local TV channel 5 at 81.75 MHz. The sensitivity and selectivity on SW are good and comparable to the DX-398. This radio gives you the option of listening to ham radio operators by offering the SSB mode, and you can quickly scan the dial just like an analog without any chugging or split-second muting sounds. I can find SW stations faster using this radio because of its fast analog tuning design yet digital read-out. It also can store 268 memories for quick scanning or manual digit input to tune to the desired station. The backlight is not very bright (helping save batteries), but it lights up the buttons and display looking stylish in a dark room. I can't believe the features and performance for such a small radio. Rechargeable batteries, charger, wire antenna, ear bud headphones, and adapter are all included.
