The Bottom Line:
Nearly any player for the $100US price has more features than this.
There appears to be only one online vendor selling this model now (according to epinions), and I suspect it's because it's an older model. Nonetheless, I feel compelled to write about this model's shortcomings, just because I finally was able to return this model for a refund today.
I bought this for my girlfriend, who was thinking of getting a CD burner at the time. At the time, I was thinking of going the MD route, but with her contemplation of getting a CD burner, the MP3/CD player seemed a cheaper alternative. It worked fine for her audio CDs for about two months. Then I got her a CD burner, and even burned a cd with it for her. A few weeks later, it stopped working altogether. "ERROR", it read when I popped any CD in. I brought it back under warranty, and was told that it would probably only take a couple of weeks to repair. I didn't get the CD player back until nearly 3 months later (which is more a complaint about A&B Sound, the store at which I purchased the unit)
Anyway, 4 days after using the unit, it had the same problem (simply displayed "Error") so I brought it back, and demanded a refund. Got a store credit, which is ok, I guess.

- no long filename support (only 8.3)- no random access in mp3 files (must listen to entire song to get to the end)- cannot play MP3 cds on its side (player must remain horizontal)
- no backlight
- no remote (optional)
