I purchased this portable cd player after my old one broke about 4 months ago and I love this one. This has 40 sec. shock, which is awesome for road trips. The audio aspect of this cd player is outstanding. It has a bass boost to add more bass and it plays quite loud. I don't believe it has skipped once. It hasn't had one problem with reading recordable cd's either. I took it on a plane flight to California last month and the long life batteries lasted the whole flight there and back. I was quite impressed with that. The headphones that come with the player, sound pretty good. I didn't feel the need to upgrade the headphones at all, and I am a stereo buff so I must have the best in sound. My only problem with the cd player is the stop button. It is very easy to accidentally bump the stop button and turn the cd player off. So, you should beware of that. Other than that small problem, I have no complaints at all. I would recommend this to someone who travels a lot. To a teenager who is always walking to get from place to place, and to someone who doesn't want a cd player in their car. They just need to get the car kit and put it in the cassette player and you have cd's playing in your car.
