The Bottom Line:  Kenwood still makes some of the best products on the market when it comes to car audio.
Product not at this site, but is available for less $

I purchased the DPX 4010 for a couple of reasons:

For more than two years I've contemplated trashing my factory double DIN cassette receiver and purchasing a new stereo. The dilemma was, that I would have to cut away/modify my dash faceplate due to width of all the latest stereos. I prefer the conservative factory look, and hate making wiring modification due to the problems it can possibly cause in the future. Double DIN systems and Kenwood's engineering changed my mine.

The quest was on, deciding between brands, models, display color and finally cost. After looking at a number of competitors, I choose the Kenwood brand due to the dependability I've experienced in the past from other Kenwood products. I've owned numerous Kenwood home & car stereo equipment since 1980. My home component system has been cranking out the tunes for over 20 years now, and is still going strong. (Ok, Ok, maybe I should consider an upgrade at home as well!)

Display was my next decision; I favored the charcoal gray color with the blue & green display lighting since it matched the dash lighting of my vehicle and the black dash mounting faceplate. (I know, so what's my point!)

A variety of display options also provided a good selling point on this model. One can choose how they want to view/display the built in equalizer, CD, receiver & cassette display lighting bars.

Model didn't matter to me as much as ensuring I had a CD Player that had a remote control and that I could plug directly into a CD Disk changer, while still having a cassette player. The DPX 4010 had all of this. The receiver face drops forward on a 45-degree angle to allow the cassette to be placed inside, which is great since cassettes are moving toward a thing of the past. (Out of site, out of mind, but convenient if you ever want to use it.) Even with a 5-speed standard transmission shifter staring down at my receiver bracket, I had plenty of room for the faceplate to drop down for cassette use and still be able to shift without damaging my new stereo.

Value for the $, was the last factor in purchasing this product. I visited 3 separate car audio shops and the going price on this product was $499.99 + Tax. Even the local military BX was $439.99 no tax was required. Then I found one online for $374.99 + 15.00 shipping, handling & insurance. What a deal!

Finally the engineering was great! It was a piece of cake to install. Kenwood had done its homework when engineering the case. The brackets from the old factory stereo mounted identically to the new receiver case with just 4 Phillips head screws. (It appears the DPX 4010 will fit any number of automobiles due to all the mounting options I noticed when installing mine) Even the wiring color codes matched so I just shoved the wires into a wiring adapter I purchased for my specific vehicle ($12.00) and within 20 minutes my stereo was installed, looking great and sounding sweet!
