The Bottom Line:
Great unit-excellent features-great sound quality-easy to use and understand menu-Intuative UI-has every possible feature you need for upgrades, multi zone etc. Must buy.
To upgrade the unit in my wifes Kia Sorento, I went online and started searching for a double din deck. I purchased the DNX 9140 (refurb) from Sonic Electronix https://www.sonicelectronix.com along with a steering wheel kit and HD radio kit. The unit has built in Garmin GPS (this was key to the decision to buy this unit, because my wife was already using a Garmin in the car). I took it to California Audio Sound for the install. It was very straight forward and easy. They charged me $150 for the HU install and $50 for the HD kit install. The items purchased were:
DNX 9140 $749, Kenwood KTC-HR200 (HD Radio) $79 and the steering wheel kit $68. Plus harness and kit for install. With tax & shipping the order came out to $999.61. So for $1,200, I was able to get this highly capable system fully installed and working. The Bluetooth works great, shows the phone book on the touch screen. The menu and work flow are very easy to understand, it only takes one read through of the manual to understand the shortcuts. Yes, 20 sec on the boot, but I have had no issues with restart etc. (the main reason I was ok with the refurb, sometimes they are actually in better condition that new units). This unit had the latest software and firmware installed. It has iPod connector, remote, touch screen, voice activation (key when driving) auto diming, truly a great unit for the price. I have not seen the unit priced anywhere else for less. My buying experience was great and the features and unit are great, sound quality, picture quality, feature set, all perfect all around unit.
