Excellent stereo for little $
Pros
Price, sound, stability
Cons
no detachable face, bass/treble reset
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Great stereo, outstanding sound, radio reception unbelievable, average functions
Bought open box at Circuit City, installed in '03 ram. Wiring was straight forward (colors matched factory wires exactly even). I cant tell you how much different this stereo is than the stock one!! Its incredible! The reception in outstanding also, I can pick up my favorite station over 150 miles away, I was floored. Setting up isnt that bad, a little reading and messing with it and you'll figure it out. Basic stereo/cd functions as they should, not extravagant, but great for what most people will need. Thieves arent as likely to steal it due to this "plain" looking face, since its doesnt have a detachable one. My last Sony CDX-L600 had a flip face and always gave me problems anyway. The only functional problem Im having is the bass/treble/mid settings. When I shut off my key it goes back to default and I have to reset to entire thing. Maybe I just havent got it quite mastered?? Anyway, other than that it realllllllllyyy kicks. The 45x4 amp rating is probably underrated, Im pushing two 6x9 ,and two 6.5" to their limits, actually cant even turn it all the way up- think I'll pop a speaker! All in all a great buy and couldnt be happier with it, this is my first Kenwood product ever, and Im sticking to them from now on.
