Quality sound at a great price

I bought my Toyota Tacoma with it's "high end" stereo. It was a nice am/fm/cassette with a cd controller, but no cd changer. I couldn't pull myself to pay the criminally high price for the changer that Toyota was charging. I went down to the local Circuit City and found the Kenwood KDC-6011 on sale for only $229... a small price to pay considering I don't have a cassette to my name. I couldn't resist.
With the purchase of a factory harness, I installed it without a hitch. It sounds great and has all the options that you would expect, along with a few surprises. Although I am not intending on buying a changer anytime soon, cd changer controls are seamlessly integrated. One of the more novel options is the support for text displays on cd's and radio stations. It is "neat", but hardly necessary. Once you go through the somewhat cumbersome process, text displays for the radio stations do give it a more personalized feel. The displays and controls for the unit are very straightforward and easy to use.
The sound quality is great! Cd's come through crisp and clear. Even with the occasional rough ride of a pick up truck, I have yet to encounter a skip while listening to a cd. My only dislike is the fact that the stereo does not resume random play when the cd player is restarted... hardly a real complaint, though.
All things considered, you'll not find another in das stereo in this price range that can compare to the Kenwood KDC-6011. It is a wonderful combination of power, clarity, options and value.
