The Bottom Line:
Good for novices and people who just want better sound without a high price
I just replaced the stock receiver in my 98 Corolla with this unit. The installation is very easy unless you have to take out the whole dash to get to your stereo like in some cars. All i had to do was pop the faceplate out around it and unscrew it. then i wired the new connector in, plugged up the kenwood, and it was in. The whole process probably took about an hour and a half.
The main thing i like about this receiver is the aux-in input. I can just plug my ipod or anything with a headphone port and play it through my car stereo. That gives me alot better quality than an fm transmitter. You also can buy a bluetooth receiver for it, an ipod remote, you can plug an HD radio and sat. radio receiver into it as well.
It has a pre amp that pumps out 50 watts per channel which would blow my stock speakers up in a second if i turned it up all the way. There is a subwoofer output in the back of the unit that you can use in addition to am amp and new speakers to make it really pump.
It is a really good receiver for a starter sound system but if you really wanted to pump it out i would go with something a little more pricey. Its good for me because i dont have the money to buy a whole system but it makes music sound alot better than through the stock receiver.
The main points i like about this receiver are the remote, it has good sound, it has colorful lights, and you can remove the faceplate to prevent theft.
