The Bottom Line:
There are many different appearing Car CD players and I believe this one has one of the most straightforward and pleasing visual arrays I've seen.
I just purchased this unit recently at Best Buy and had it installed there (included in the cost of about $170) and then opted for the 48 months service plan and came out for less than $210.
I notice several nice features already. This is the first player I've owned in years that does not start over when you shut down your car and then return and start up. Hooray for that. Also, it has nice blue lighting easily viewable in daylight. As many of us wear polarized UV protection glasses, LCDs can't be easily seen because of polarized lens but the blue light is no problem.
The USB post has its own little door covering it from dust when not in use. I tried the USB stored songs first and was greatly impressed with their accurate reproduction.
Another great feature is the display, which shows all information on the discs, as taken from Windows Media Player. Also, it shows the number of the folder for a particular artist (so you can make notes if your memory is as bad as mine) and then the number of tracks is also shown contained in that folder.
The other features are just as endearing and the remote is a complete jewel, offering many more functions than the others I've owned.
I am never disappointed in the Kenwood quality. I collect their vintage equipment anyway and it is nice to own a modern piece that is so versatile. I have some of their amps and tuners that are still performing marvelously some thirty years later.
