Awesome MP3 Head Unit

Pros Fast MP3, intuitive, Nice-looking, sound quality, price
Cons None so far
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you want a nice looking CD player, with blazing MP3 seek times, EQ, 2 preouts, for $200, then look no further.
I wanted a CD changer that looked nice and easy to understand. Most importantly, I wanted really good MP3 function, because I hate listening to the radio. I must say, this thing is amazing for the price. I'll start with the looks. I wanted something nice looking, but I didn't want it too flashy because of the theft possibility. It has silver trim with Blue and Red buttons. The display is back lit and has several different colors it changes to. It looks nice, especially at night because it will change between colors on its own. My system was not set up to dim when my lights cut on. Even so, it is not too bright or distracting for me. It's a dot matrix screen, but I don't mind that. I don't need all of those graphics anyway. Next I'll talk about the interface. It was more intuitive than I thought it was going to be. You'll be able to do all the basic functions without looking at the manual at all. One quick glance at the manual and you'll be using all the features like a veteran. If I can understand it, hey, anyone can. The sound quality is really good too. I had a crappy system before, with 10 year old stock speakers. The speakers were fuzzy and everything with the old head unit. This head unit made me think I had a fresh set of speakers. I was shocked. All this time, I thought it was just the speakers that were sounding terrible. These speakers are 11 years old and they sound really good now thanks to this headunit!! There are EQ settings galore. Not too complicated though but it does give you enough flexibility to fine tune to almost any system setup whether you have a sub in the trunk or not. Ohh and it does have two amp Preouts so that you can do the whole subwoofer thing with no problems. Now for my favorite part; the MP3. It's just as fast a a regular CD. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. It goes through those folders as if they were nothing. That was very important to me. There are many MP3 players that take 20 years to scan a disk. I give this one about 3 seconds before it starts and about 1 second between manual file skips. If it goes to the next track on its own, the transition is almost immediate! I was floored by this. Forget everything else I said. The MP3 playability alone will make you want to buy this thing. It's amazing. It does all the other cool stuff too. Shows you the artist's name, track name, and all that other stuff. It also FF's and RW's through an MP3 song too. Another cool thing is the remote. It's not that cheap credit card one. This one is the real deal and takes 2 AA batteries. (Included) Nice touch Kenwood. The face is removable to ward off thieves. There's a blinking red light flashing when the face is removed and they even give you the option of selecting whether that light flashes Red or Blue. I thought that was too nice. All of this for $200?? Where do I sign? (LOL) I'm really happy with this purchase(As if you couldn't tell) and I will definitely buy from Kenwood again.
