Kenwood Excelon KDC-X559 Car CD Player

This is the first aftermarket deck I've ever owned and overall, I enjoy it. It has been installed in my 2002 Golf and it maintains the consistency of the interior aesthetics very well. The deck was bought in the interest of greater control and power of my subwoofer as the sub amp was connected to the factory deck. The ability of the deck to manipulate frequencies and sound levels sent to my sub amp is outstanding. Furthermore, the sound sent to my factory mids and highs is wonderfull too. I find myself listening to music that I've heard for years and discovering whole new songs under the quality of sound which the kdc-x559 perpetuates. There are many options for display which is nice if you like your visual toys. If there's one drawback I've noticed about the deck is its limited power. Although it is rated at 22rms it is played at 3/4 volume most of the time in my car and it is a very tolerable sound. I find this to be problematic, as if I'm paying a good chunck of money for a aftermarket deck I'm expecting it to make my ears bleed. Fortunately I plan on using my existing sub amp for my mids in the future and buying a mono block sub amp for my sub. Therefore, I'm sure the deck will make a wonderful pre-amp in the interest of future upgrading. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and if you're picky about your sound and are looking for a amplified deck to tide you over until you can afford a big system, get this deck and use it now for an amp and later for a pre-amp.
