The Bottom Line:
I would buy this stereo if you have a high performance system, and if you want all the gizmos as well.
This is Kenwood's best receiver that they make that has an amp inside it. It looks real flashy. When people come into your car, they will almost always complement it. But this unit isn't just about the style. With a signal-to-noise ration of 105db it will play your speakers louder and clear with the same amount of power. Even my subwoofer got this increase in sound quality as well. I upgraded from a non Excelon head unit to an Excelon one and it was the difference between night and day. The pre-outs are 4.5 Volts, and are good enough to run the best of amplifiers. Internal frequency cutoffs allow you to filter out the frequencies you don't want going to your speakers. This almost eliminates the need for bass blockers for most stereo system applications. Then after all of the performance it has all of he gizmo's. More options than most probably need, but if you are like me you'll enjoy every one. The only drawback I can think of is the amount of time it takes to open and close. Some other receivers like the Eclipse open and close really fast, but that is really a minor detail.
