I compare the two receivers because they are both THX certified but that's where the comparison ends.
Unlike the vr-6070, the vr-9070 incorporates 7 channels of pure descrete precision sound with the help of Analog Devices 32-bit floating point sharc audio processor and a couple of other periferal chips.
I auditioned the Pioneer vsx-59txi 64lb $2200,00 bemouth and could decern no difference in the full 20hz-20khz freq spectrum. The audition was conducted with both receivers using: a Velodyne SPL-1000 sub, a Kef reference 202 center and Kef reference 203 floor standers all around. You can spend thousands on a receiver or separates if you like - but will your ears know the difference
I have the black model but the sound is the same.
