Missing an EQ? 9 Bands to better sound shaping!
Pros
No distortion, switchable background color between green and amber. Built in crossovers.
Cons
Sliders are stiff. Parametric bands are not all that.

The Bottom Line:
All in all, I don't think I could have a better EQ. Faders, crossovers, and subcontrol with a reliable and correct 9 band is irreplaceable.
Kenwood's 9 Band EQ is near flawless. Its half DIN size lets you mount it directly below your headunit in most GM or Mopar vehicles making it very convenient to use.
The best way I found it worked with a head unit with no EQ was to put the head units fader all the way to the front and run the front RCA preout to the Kenwood and leave everything else at zero. Once hooked up, the EQ allows for front and rear fader and the headunit will still do a L to R balance, so you don't lose anything by using the EQ. I never used the 2 parametric bands because it made the whole system 2 way rather than 4 way so it changed the sound significantly. It made it very difficult to get the front and rear at the same volume level when using 2 separate amps. Despite this, running 3 amps with only 9 bands working allowed me to make my car sound absolutely pristine.
This unit also has lot of adjustablitiy in the way of subs. The built in variable low pass crossover really allowed me keep the subs doing what they are supposed to do from song to song. Having both a level control and a variable crossover slider right at your fingertips was unbelievably helpful. And when something classical or jazz came on I could turn them way down or off instantly.
