The Bottom Line:
for the price and features this HU can't be beat - my review w/external amps only
A little skiddish about putting anything else in my car after having my Alpine stolen, i finally got down to researching car stereos again. i have a limited budget, but want (as everyone does) the most bang for the buck. For $133 delivered on E-bay, i got 3 4-volt pre-amp outputs (front, rear, sub), mp3 playback and a usb connection, and enough fine-tuning adjustments to make my one-step-above-bottom-of-the-line jbl 4-channel amp and boss mono amp sound fantastic out of an Infinity kappa perfect 12 in a sealed 1cf box, infinity kappa 6x9's, and audiobahn 6 1/2" components. The head unit has a 3-way parametric equalizer as well as high- and low- pass filters for each set of outputs. each source is tuned separately, so bass, mid and treble adjustments you make for radio, usb, and cd are all kept separate. It come with some Phatnoise media management software, which you can use to make acdrive cd's and flash drives - it allows the head unit to search tracks by user-created playlists, artist, genre, album - makes it useful for cd compilations or usb flash drives. so far has performed flawlessly. my only complaint is the HUGE lettered display - it takes forever to scroll enough information to make a file search while driving. there is a bit of a learning curve, but after only a few days, i'm already getting things down. all in all, very tough to beat these features for the price. Oh, and one last thing - i love this HU, but the detatchable face design seems almost like an afterthought. nearly impossible to line up and put on in the dark
