Kenwood KDC-X590 Car CD / MP3 Player

I was excited to have the opportunity to purchase a new Kenwood product (the store where I shop just started carrying Kenwood). I was told that the Excelon series was the top of the line that Kenwood had to offer. While the sound quality is good and the separate sub output control is nice, the overall quality of the product is very disappointing. The faceplate requires some sort degree in quantum physics to install. Don't even think about doing it in the dark! I purchased a Pioneer head unit about ten years ago that was much easier to install the faceplate. I would have thought that after ten years or so, they would have made it quite a bit easier, ya know? And the quality of the faceplate is cheap. I'm afraid I'm going to break it while putting it on! Additionally, the CD unit seems very particular about the quality of the disk it is playing. Disks with a couple of minor scratches on them seem to have problems!
