I am not a newb and have purchased many a deck in my day and have to say that thus far, the Kenwood KDC-X990 is the best I have ever come across. As an MP3 player, the folder options and control are incredible. The sound control options are awesome from auto select of vehicle type to the frequency sweep, Q shift and +/- of the EQ, speaker size selection, and sub control are outstanding. My last was an Alpine and while the sound does rival the Alpine, the control and sheer flexibility of the set up makes this one a MUST GET item. I installed it into my Porsche Boxster after my factory CD player started giving me grief. The VW installation kit and an RF adapter for the antenna was used and was surprised at how good it can make the factory Porsche speakers sound. Auto set up and user mode for top up and top down makes me a happy guy. Great deck and a worth while investment.
