For its price, it's more than you pay for...
Pros
great audio quality from CD/mp3 player and Tuner; well-priced for a WELL-KNOWN brand
Cons
large remote;not very user friendly functions and buttons
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
if you're looking for a reliable MP3 player that gives you good sound quality and your budget's kinda tight, don't even look elsewhere
I bought this player a week ago and the experience's been great. One of the main reasons is that when i paid for it, i obviously didn't expect a SONY with 1000 watts of power and i-just-THINK-n-it'll-do-it kinda ease of use.
It plays great. The sound quality's awesome. (the signal-to-noise ratio for the CD player is 105dB...it's the highest i saw among the other similar-priced players...the higher the better). Also one of the things i wanted to test it on was mp3-cd read time...and it does well...about 6-7 seconds which is pretty good. The tuner is fabulous...amazing clarity.
Only sad part (if you MUST ask and i MUST tell) is the buttons that're not VERY easy to use and the buttons for Volume (i'd have liked the knob). Also the remote's more like a TV remote. i've seen smaller ones that hook onto your steering wheel and are pretty convenient. However, these are things that you can get used to pretty quickly.
I still haven't tried sirius so can't comment on that. Anyways, to sum it up, i was looking for good sound quality from cds and the tuner, mp3 playing ability with short read times and a reliable brand name. And this player definitely gives me as much if not more, than i expected on all these counts.
Hey I just found out...if you're looking for a player with the same specifications (and features) but with a volume KNOB instead of the buttons, there's KDC-MP228. It wasn't out in the market when i bought mine, but looks like now it is!
