The Bottom Line:
Use your money for a different receiver. It's ridiculous to go through two of the units in 13 months.
When I initially considered getting a satellite radio, I thought I would try to get as much versatility as possible, so I chose Kenwood's Here2Anywhere model so that I could use it in my car as well as my house. This was the only one I could find in my budget (less than $100), so I bought it through a special offered on the Sirius website.
Initially, it was a great deal. I was able to install it in my car as well as hook it up to my home stereo with very little difficulty. It provided great reception and I thought I had spent my money well.
Two months later, the screen went out. Since it's difficult to navigate the stations without any sense of where you are in the lineup, I found it frustrating to continue using the unit. I called Kenwood to find out about repairs, and they suggested that I either mail it in to be repaired or take it to an approved vendor. Since I was getting ready to take a long road trip where there would be an authorized shop at my destination, I chose to take it in.
Two months later, I finally received a replacement unit and everything went well until a couple of weeks ago. The screen went out again. I've gone through two units in 13 months. When I called Kenwood about the problem, they said that since it was no longer under warranty, they had no obligation to do anything about this. However, as a courtesy, they would replace the unit since the replacement had been sent only eight months previous. When I pointed out that based on past experience I anticipated this happening again and a replacement unit would not solve the problem, the customer service rep. indicated that there was nothing further that she could do, save recommend that I register a formal complaint with the company.
Overall, I regret my purchase and will pursue an extension of the warranty through my credit card company. I have also registered a complaint to Kenwood Customer Service regarding the quality of the product.
In my opinion, save your money and invest in a better quality unit.
