Pros
Great, DIGITAL sound.For only 50 watts, this sub is capable of DEEEP lows.
Cons
HDMI did not exist when this came out, so I guess this has no Cons.

The Bottom Line:
Has lasted almost 9 years. Digital Sound is amazing. No popped cones, after all this time
I bought my home theater in a box from Sam's Club in 2000 and have been impressed with the sound ever since. I started with a regular 27 inch analog tv and mostly used the surround for watching dvds and playing sega dreamcast using composite cables for sound. Pro Logic sounds great on this home theater. I had the digital coaxial cable for quite some time, but eventually lost it, along with the remote, in a move. It sounded great with digital coax, but (if I am remembering correctly) I don't think it made the "Dolby Digital" light up.
Just recently (maybe a week ago) I purchased a SONY 32XBR6 High Def TV. I have an HDMI running from my 360 (and next pay I'll have one for my HDDVR) and it looks great. And for the first time EVER, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, I am running an optical cable on my Kenwood VR-405 from my TV. It sounds great. It makes the surround channls light up and say "LS" and "RS", instead of just "S" in the middle.
And, most importantly, the Dolby Digital light turns on. Oh yeah, and the subwoofer doesn't say "SW", it says "LFE", which stands for Low Frequency Effect. It sounds absolutely, noticeably different. I give this a 10 out of 10, for all my years of quality.
PS. I have never had remote control issues with the VR-405.
