The Kidde Smoke Alarm Value Pack is a cost effective way to enhance the fire safety of your home or office. Each value pack includes two ionization detectors, mounting hardware, and two 9 Volt batteries.
Availability and Pricing
Available at most supermarkets or mega marts such as Target, Kidde smoke alarms are readily available. I purchased this Smoke Alarm Value Pack from Target for $16.99, which is appears to be the standard price for this value pack. Most other smoke alarms on the shelf of Target were selling for between $15-$30 and most didn't include batteries. The value pack breaks down to a price tag of only $8.49 per smoke detector - significantly less than the competition.
The Smoke Alarms
The smoke alarms are ionization type detectors - meaning they detect physical particles such as smoke or carbon as a method to detect fire. While this is an effective method of detecting fire, ionization detectors are susceptible to many false alarms as other things such as dust and small insects can also trip the alarm.
Unique to the Kidde smoke alarms is a Hush button which allows the user to quickly and easily silence the alarm with a push of a button - most other detectors require the battery to be removed in order to reset.
Most other standard smoke alarm features are available with Kidde detectors... 85 decibel alarm, LED light, low battery chirp, and mounting bracket.

Included in the Kidde Smoke Alarm Value Pack is the mounting hardware needed to mount the alarms to a ceiling or wall and two nine volt batteries. The mounting hardware is simply made up of two small screws and a mounting bracket which makes installation a snap. The included batteries not only decrease the overall cost, makes this an easy way to buy and start using smoke alarms.

After purchasing the Kidde Smoke Alarm Value Pack I opened the package and threw one up on my ceiling with little resistance and without reading the instruction book. (Although I can't imagine anyone really needs to read an instruction book to figure out how to install batteries and use a screw driver).

From purchasing, installing, mounting, and using the Kidde Smoke Alarm Value Pack is an excellent method of fire protection. You would be hard pressed to find a less expensive smoke alarm, and the Kidde brand name provides a sure sense of security and protection.
