As I have grown older through the years, I have changed my taste in music. With the change in taste also came a change in my stereo equipment. You can can talk about distortion and frequency response but when it comes right down to it, its the speaker that will eventually make or break a system. Everyone hears things in a different way so as I write this review on the Klipsch Klipschorn I would like you to keep one thing in mind, LISTEN BEFORE YOU BUY!
About 10 years ago I began rebuilding my home stereo system. I use to have an old Pioneer receiver with 200 watts per channel. All that power drove my Cerwin Vega speakers. They were nice for the music I listened to but I needed some speakers with a little more flexibility. Piece by piece I changed out my components. Finally it came down to the speakers. I listened to at least a dozen high end speakers until I came across the Klipschorn (K-Horn).
The K-Horn is an amazing speaker not only in sound but size also. Just to let you know right off the bat, the K-Horn is a large, very large speaker that really could be called a piece of furniture. The size is what allows for the quality of sound that they produce. The sound is very smooth and has plenty of low end. The speaker is very efficient and will handle just about any type of music that you want to put through them. Sound can easily fill a room with these speakers and even when pushed to their limits, they never miss a beat. The only flaw that I have found with the K-Horns is their placement. They are designed to fit into a corner of a room. The walls actually help with the bass response. So you need a good, empty corner for these speakers.
If you are looking for all the specs on these speakers I suggest that you visit their web site. After the sticker shock, you will realize that these speakers are for the serious audiophile. But if great sound is what you are looking for then find a dealer and listen to these speakers, you will be amazed. If you purchase a pair then the only question you might ask is, "Is this a speaker of a piece of furniture?"
