LaScala, is it live or is it LaScala!!
Pros
Make them yourself and you "will be proud".
Cons
They are somewhat directional. Also they are quite large. Remember, all sound comes from somewhere!!!!
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you cannot afford them then construct your own. If you scale down the cabinet size you will want to load them with a beefed-up low-end driver
The Klipsch "folded horn" design is "acoustics' to a science". The design is mathematically calibrated to reproduce sound to a true "flat" response. No curve, no roll-off, no coloration. It is designed to put out what is put in, true equalization in the final outlet of an electronic audio reproduction system, be it music, theater, chainsaw, mac truck, waterfall, moon rocket, or what have you! Technically the size of the enclosure can be scaled down to fit 12in., 10in., and even 8in. drivers. I've spent the last 25 years with a doubled-up 8 inch homemade version I created. I am going to build two sets of 10in. models soon and possibly a pair of twelves for myself. I'm pretty sure that there is a U.S. patent on the design by Klipsch, so it would be illegal to mass-produce these designs for retail sale. Jensen also designed a folded horn enclosure back in the 1940's or it was in the 1950's. Basically WW|| technology, or "golden generation" stuff. Back in the day, when certain basic technologies and sciences became part of our "human consciousness". To put it into one word the word would be "efficiency". The human voice is a great example of what reproduction should epitimize, hook up a microphone and speak or sing a tune and you will then be in the know!!!
