Pretty Much What I Expected
Pros
Great Subwoofer, Great individual speaker control. Easy to setup.
Cons
Need Remote control for speaker. Slim documentation.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Definitely worth the money in my opinion. Great sound for the average person.
These speakers are being used for a multimedia PC. Purchased at a computer fair $300 New.
AMD 1.8
DVD Drive
CD Burner Plextor
Hard Drive 120 Gig 8 Cache
ATI Wonder 8500 DV
Memory 512
Sound Card Digifire 7.1/Creative Audigy2 ** See Below
Packaging
The speakers are packed well and protected in the box. The box might be considered heavy by some. All cables and material rolled and packed well.
Setup
Very easy to setup if you have setup individual speaker wiring before. Remember two sets of the speaker wires are for the rear speakers and are longer. Now the interesting part, sound cards, make sure you know your sound card can use the full 5.1/6.1 configuration so you can enjoy your speakers. Fortunately I did have a sound card for this and heard sound.
Challenges
I had a 7.1 Digifire card so I thought I was all set. Well I wasn't impressed by the sound. No real subwoofer sound. What I found out was that the 6.1 setting my sound card didn't play well due to a design issue. Tom's hardware helped me figure that out. I then put in the Audigy2 card I had, and WOW and all was well
One other item is to learn how to control the sound settings through the sound card software.
Need to Improve
Remote control would be great. I also would like more information on their website to guide the customer through settings to get the best out of the speakers. I did find the sound card web sites more helpful on setting suggestions for both the sound card and speakers.
Sound
I am not a "Audiophile" as some of my friends. I can tell you this that the sound is crisp, and subwoofer will really impress you. For a 20X20 room with speakers setup in a full front and back configuration I am amazed. I can definitely hear the difference in my MP3 collection as to the quality of the recording. My playstation and Xbox sound great through it.
