Simply the best.

Pros Ample power, clear sound, great sub.
Cons No decoder.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It's the best speakers you can get at this price. Sound quality is extremely good, best you can get for the money.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a Klipsch freak fan or some kind of guy like that. I'm all about what sounds the best regardless of which company built them. With that said, I must say that within this price bracket, the Klipsch 5.1 ProMedia surround sound system is probably the best you can get. Period.

To answer all the people who say that it's way too expensive, stop for a second and think about what you're getting. It's a 500 watt RMS monster that has 5.1 channels. Sure, 400 dollars might be a hefty chunk, but to get lots of great sound you're going to have to shell out lots of money. You want discount prices, go get discount speakers. But in my opinion, they're still a great value. They easily beat more expensive systems. It's one of the few systems where I really believe the THX logo isn't merely on there because they paid them off.

The setup on these are fairly easy, but this is assuming you have another decoder setup, such as a receiver or a 5.1 sound card, which brings me to the one downside of this. There is no separate decoder. If you don't have anything to send out a 5.1 signal, you're out of luck. But aside from that, setup was very easy. I set this system up in less than 15 minutes. You plug them in, match the wires and you're good to go.

The controls are also very simple. It comes with a tiny control pod that controls the master volume, the rear surrounds, the center and the subwoofer levels. Nothing advanced, but it gets the job done. And for all of you who constantly whine about there being no headphone jacks on speaker setups, this one does come with one. It also comes with a line in jack so you can plug in an external source such as a two channel console, a CD player, or anything else like that. It proves to be an incredibly convenient addition to the system.

The footprint of the control pod is tiny, and the satellites don't take up too much space either. The subwoofer on the other hand takes up a huge chunk of space. Be sure to clear out some things near the corner in your room if you want to fit this in.

Then there's the sound quality. This is where this system shines above the rest and lets you shrug away the one or two downsides of this. They sound absolutely amazing to start off with, and sound even better when broken in. The highs and midrange signals are reproduced clearly. The settings on the control pod takes a little fine tuning to get right, but once you figure out what's best for your room, the subwoofer does what you want. And because of the ample power, it satisfies you whatever your taste might be. You can turn it way down so the clear treble is accented, or you can balance it out so the subwoofer balances the satellites or for you bassheads you can crank it to the max and it'll never complain. But whatever you do, the bass is tight and rarely gets muddy until you push it to the max, but at that point you'll probably be driven deaf anyway.

At 400 dollars it's a great value (it's probably gone down now) and I would highly suggest it to anyone. Don't have the money? Go save up. Cut back on meals and utilities if you have to. Just go buy them. Yes, they're worth it. The only comparable model is the Logitech Z680 which retails for the same amount. That one has a standalone decoder which is a definite plus, but in my ears, the Klipsch system beats it out in sound quality. Not to say that it's a bad system, because it's very good. But at this point, it's just a hearing test between the two to see which fits you. But I still recommend these more.
