Theses are GREAT PC speakers

Pros Best PC speaker on the market right now (2003)
Cons No decoder, volume knob jumps around sometimes.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  There are not any other choices if you want true hifi sound for your PC without hooking it up to your main stereo.
The Klipsch Promedia 5.1 speakers are simply the best PC speakers you can buy. When Klipsch first introduced their PC speakers it blew people away as no one was making quaility speakers for the PC. Other companies are starting to realize that people want quality and are catching up, but currently the Promedia 5.1s are still the kind of the hill. Not only is the sound supurb for the category of PC speakers, but I know some people who use them as their main stereo speakers.

Since the other reviews rave about how clean and nice these sound, as well as how incredibly loud they can get, I want to mention another great feature. The control module that sits on your desk also has outputs for attaching headphones, and the headphone amp inside is of very high quality. This is saying a lot as most PC speakers that include a jack for headphones use amp components that MIGHT add up to a whole dollar in parts. In other words they sound bad and do not have any power to drive high end headphones. The amp in the Klipsch module is very high quality and can drive even your expensive Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic, etc. with ease.
The module remembers your volume settings separately for your headphones or the speakers. Hit the power button on the module once to turn on the speakers, hit again to switch to headphones, and hold down the power button to shut off the system.

Another feature on the module is the line in jack. This is nice when I want to hook up my MP3 player etc. to listen through the speakers or through a higher quality headphone amp. I have a set of these at work, and it is really nice being able to bring my MP3 player back and forth and instantly hook it up to my speakers to listen.

My only complaint is that when you are trying to make fine adjustments to the volume knob, it sometimes jumps either going much louder or softer than you intended. Annoying but not that big a deal.

And one last comment, if you think the Promedia 5.1s sound good... you should hear Klipsh's home speakers! The Promedia 5.1 set is expensive, as all Klipsch products are, but this is one case where you really do get what you pay for. As most audiopiles know, the most important part of your system is the speakers if you want good sound.
