Review: Klpisch ProMedia v.2-400
-----------------------------------
It's an earthquake! no, it's thunder! no, wait.. it's an explosion! Actually, its the subwoofer on my Klipsch ProMedia's. This speaker set is the king of them all. These speakers are simply the best when it comes to computer audio, and no question about it. Nothing comes even close. Klipsch is well known for their ability to make home entertainment systems that produce sound so realistic, you'd think you were sucked inside the movie you're watching. Klipsch boasts of their new THX certified ProMedia speakers made for computer users. The sound produced by the speakers is simply amazing. The set comes with a subwoofer and 4 speakers to be placed around you, two in front, two in back, so that the sound will hit you like never before. You have not heard true audio until you have heard the Klipsch ProMedia speakers. The subwoofer utilizes a long curved bull horn tube within the casing to enhance the sound and enable the subwoofer to reach as low as 29 hz. Each of the satelite speakers are a marvel of high tech audio perfection. Each is carefully balanced to compliment each other in delicious sound, forming a large sweet spot in the center where the projected sound intersects, giving you the peak performance.
Out of the box, you will immidiately notice how incredibly heavy each of the components of this speaker set is. I have actually taken apart the subwoofer to play with the driver. The driver on the subwoofer is huge, and sports gigantic magnets. No wonder the subwoofer, when turned up halfway, is capable of launching me halfway across the room. The satelites themselves are incredibly powerful as well. The speakers are rated at an incredibly high volume (110dB SPL at listening position). That's enough volume to destroy your eardrums as well as your wall and ceiling. These speakers output wonderfully crisp and clear sound. The speakers are great for gaming as well. While playing the popular shoot-em up games such as quake3, counterstrike, and unreal tournament, you can literally hear where people are. You can feel that rocket flying towards your head from behind, that you didn't see. Music is great on these speakers. You can hear Mariah Carey hit her high singing notes in full surround sound, and you can experience the boom-booming of hip hop music without your subwoofer bottoming out. You can experience classical music blaring from the excellent mid range drivers from all around. The experience is literally indescribable. Watching DVD's on the computer with these speakers is a great excitement. With a nice soundcard, and these dolby surroundsound speakers, no speakers can get you closer to realism than the way these do.
All major characteristics that comprise a good set of speakers are clearly present within this model. The high end is clear and distinct, the mid range is powerful and really delivers the sound and spreads it all around you. The subwoofer really rocks the floor with excellently clear bass and never again will you experience the thudding of a cheap plastic subwoofer vibrating beneath your computer desk.
The best part about these speakers, is the fact that they cost only $250. This might seem expensive to you, but for the quality of the audio, you should expect to pay something around 4-$600. The klpisch's really beat out the speakers that run at a higher price than it. The klipsch speakers easily destroy the 5.1 theater pc soundworks speakers when compared. Even without a center channel, the Klipsch's emulate a sensation that you're sitting admist a room filled with speakers. The Klipsch speakers also beat out its only competiton easily. The Midiland's don't even come close!
Conclusion:
-----------------------------------
As I have clearly shown, I really love these speakers. If you have enough money, enough said! Go get em! The only drawback of these speakers, is if you want to purchase them, you can only get them mail order. There are not many stores that carry them retail. Whatever it takes though, It is definately worth it. These speakers will last you forever, bringing you the best in the ultimate audio experience.
