The Bottom Line:  It's a point and shoot plus a digital camera
Advantix Preview is an APS zoom with a difference. This camera has a digital camera inside of it. There is a digital camera inside which enables users to preview pictures on a back mounted color LCD screen.

This camera has been on the market for awhile. The preview that one sees is a 640 by 480 resolution image. This image cannot be downloaded or manipulated. It is only an instant preview and is stored in the internal memory.

I like this feature as it shows what the final photograph will look like. It shows the good and bad features of the image. You can see if it is blurry, if someone has blinked or if the image is out of range. Then you can put "no print" if you dislike the image. If you like the quality of the image, you can print up to nine copies during processing. The only other change which is enabled is to specify the shape. You can manipulate for horizontal, classic or panoramic views. It will show on the LCD panel and make changes.

The camera is a basic point and shoot. This camera is on the large size at ten ounces because of the LCD extras. It handles well and it takes two CR123A batteries.

The following is how it works. You take a picture than press the Preview button. The button is clearly marked. The preview appears on the LCD screen. You do nothing if you like the image. You press the zoom level to specify more prints. You can change the print shape (C, H, or P). The preview feature also helps to see if special effects came out right. You can see if you made any errors in composition. For example, did the night flash come out or a panning effect come out? It is simply fun to use. The camera provides immediate gratification. You get to see your image without waiting for processing to see if any mistake was made. This is actually the reason why it is fun to use digital cameras.

The Preview is a quiet camera. It makes alittle noise when zooming is used. The lens sharpness is very good at the center and at the edge(45mm). The flash works up to 24 feet at 25mm and ten feet at 65mm.

Overall, this is a good zoom APS camera with an added feature. The digital preview is a useful feature and allot of fun to use while providing instant gratification.
