Fantastic Camera for the money

Pros Phenomenal camera at a fantastic price with a zoom to knock your socks off
Cons No hotshoe, no RAW support
Recommended it? Yes

I want to begin by agreeing with everything that shamino says in his review of this camera. If you are thinking that a good camera has to be made in Japan, this one can change your mind. I paid $180 plus tax (at Dell.com using PayPal) and couldn't be happier. At that price, you will need to add... Read full review »

An incredible camera for the price

Pros 12x zoom, great picture quality, fast action.
Cons Poor documentation. Doesn't include rechargeable batteries.
Recommended it? Yes

Kodak cameras have always impressed me. They offer much more of a camera than anybody else does at the same price point. The Z712IS is no exception.

I bought this camera because of its 12x zoom lens and 7.1MP resolution. I frequently attend conventions and other events where I have to... Read full review »

Not for me -- but maybe for you.

Pros Price, excellent zoom, some control over features.
Cons Can't use filters, can't control white balance. Not a camera to grow with.
Recommended it? No

My search for a new camera started when my Nikon 5700 died. That camera was at the perfect level for me. It would take pictures automatically when that was called for, but gave me control over most of the features (focusing being the major exception) when I wanted to play.

However, for... Read full review »

Pros Good pictures.
Cons Short battery life. This camera eats them fast.
Recommended it? Yes

I did a lot of research before purchasing this camera but could find nothing negative so I bought it. At the time it was priced at around $400.00 and came with a "free printer." There were two batteries included and a charger. I charged the batteries and went to Disney world to take a lot of... Read full review »

Great Digital / Video Camera!

Pros Takes great pictures, built for comfort
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this digital camera because I love taking photos. It definitely exceeds my expectations. With the kodak reputation and a maximum 7.1 megapixel capability, it takes wonderful and clear pictures; never seems to disappoint me.
I am not an expert or anything at taking pictures, so I just... Read full review »

Not Impressed... but hanging in there

Cons Blurry pictures on "easy" mode, NO rechargeable battery or charger -- kodak...

I bought this for the zoom, and for the price. The zoom works as advertised.

However, compared to much cheaper Panasonic and Canon that I had in the past, this one takes alot of blurry pictures. The camera has lots of settings and I have to admit I am learning them little by little, but... Read full review »

Pros 12x zoom, video, LCD preview screen, manual settings, pre-set modes, size,
Cons lens cap, narrow neck strap

I've owned this camera for over 9 months and am very pleased with it. It's not bulky or heavy, but yet packs a big camera punch! I love taking photos of my kids, landscape, flowers, the moon, close ups, indoor, outside, and shallow depth of field.

When I first got this camera, I was... Read full review »

The main feature that sold me on this camera was the good 12x zoom lens. In retrospect I should have thought it through further and bought something else.

The camera firmware is pretty basic, although Kodak for some reason thought adding forward/backward seek to the on-camera video... Read full review »

Pros Awesome photo quality. Easy setup. 12x optical zoom!
Cons does not come with charger. Is a tad bit bulky in the modern digital market.
Recommended it? Yes

I was very satisfied with this camera. For the money, it can not be challenged. Setting the camera up was easy, seeing that I had owned a Kodak digital camera before. I really didn't find it all that hard to use. The most difficult part of the process was uploading the software (and in all honesty,... Read full review »
