I love my phone, but wouldn't buy another one.
Pros
Small, lightweight, flip-phone style, lit display, lots of number storage.
Cons
static-filled reception indoors, echoing when on calls to a digital phone, prone to software problems.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
It's small, sexy and fun, but prone to poor reception and software problems, so look for another brand.
I bought the Kyocera 5135 because it was nice and small, and had the cool look and some of the gadgets I wanted: alarm-clock, calculator, stop-watch, timer, lots of phone-number storage, cool ring tones ( downloadable ones too), access to the internet, text-message capability, lit-up screen for night-time. It came with only one game, called brick attack, and it amused the kids for about five minutes. Too bad I did not have the option to download more games, which I would love to have done.
The standby time was excellent: I could leave my phone on all day for about a week before the battery ran down.
It also didn't hurt that my cell-phone provider offered me an excellent rebate on the phone!
Now the downside: I had heard from a couple of people who own the same phone that theirs experienced major software problems: they were very bitter! I have owned my phone since November ( 8 months) and it has had problems for the last three weeks. It is now in for repair.
I have had no problem up until now, except with poor reception while inside the mall, or a large cavernous store without windows, but for three weeks my phone constantly switches in and out of service. Two days ago it displayed a warning that it needed service! Very scary.
It is in the cell-phone hospital. Hopefully it will come back as good as new, but I am concerned about down the road when my one-year warranty expires.
