The Bottom Line:  I don't recommend this phone because its cheap and has left me with numerous problems.
I bought my Kyocera 5135 or S14 flip phone in January 2004. Already it is broken and I am going to have to go get it repaired or else replaced because the thing no longer works correctly. When I first got my phone, I noticed a few flaws about it. The battery life on this phone wasn't something I was used to. I have always had Nokia phones and never did the batteries on those ones get drained so quickly. I also noticed when I would talk on the phone for more than 20 minutes or so, the key pad would begin to get hot. It wasn't that big of a deal, rather it was just odd and a little annoying. One day I was sending a text message and my phone just.. well... froze. It somehow just got stuck on a screen and I actually had to remove the battery to unfreeze it. I also noticed that my phone was slow and took a while to process certain things. For instance, when typing a text message, it would often take a long time to type out the words. About a month ago my phone charger actually got STUCK in the phone. I hadn't forced it in or anything and when I tried to pull it out it wouldn't budge. I ended up having to pry it out carefully just to remove it. It's now May and my phone is practically broken. Sure it's been dropped a few times, but never more than I have dropped my other phones. I take care of my things, so there's no reason for this to be my fault. It's never been exposed to water or anything that would make it act like this. For the past 4 days, I believe my phone has finally conked out. No longer can I get any service because of a problem inside the phone. I've gotten help from my service who claims that the phone is the problem, not the service. And I believe that too, because my sister has the same service and she's been getting service, unlike myself. Now, my phone will not even show the date and time on the main screen. Overall, I've gotta say that if you get this phone, make sure youve got a warranty, or some type of insurance on it through your service. This is not a good every day phone. Maybe light use and extremely careful handling because obviously it must be more fragile than I thought. I've got a thing against Kyocera phones, I feel that they just don't compare to other phones in quality.
