Phone that you can hear.. Can you hear me now

Pros Phone is loud on the ears, no more walking outside a noisy environment to hear.
Cons Stub attenna doesn't get as good reception as regular attenna. Battery use annoying sometimes.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would recommend this phone .. it is really good for the hearing impaired.. ANd has a good speaker...
This phone is a phone from US Cellular. Verizon's version which I have as well is the KX 444 and I believe Alltel has it as well. They are exactly the same phone. In general I think US Cellulars network is fair to begin with. I do drop calls sometimes with it but I think it is more the network that the phone. I have already replaced an attenna with this phone just in case I thought it was the phone.

Battery life is awesome with the phone about 3 -4 hours talk time digitally with the extended battery. STandby is about 96 hours. It's a long time. I am not sure what the exact talk time is...
BE VERY CAREFUL OF ONE THING and that is not to let the battery go all the way down to nothing. When you do that and then plug in the phone, it will not let you continue your conversation for about a half hour. You will get a message saying PHONE IS OFF PHONE IS CHARGING and you can't continue that conversation with your girlfriend for the next half hour. Since I have two batteries since I also have the KX444, I will let one battery charge in the KX 444 and use the other in my KX 440, very annoying and irritating.

Sound clarity is OK and very loud earpiece and speakerphone, after all this phone is capable of Speed Talk just as the 444 is for Verizon's PTT. At times my mother can't hear me on the phone with her speakerphone but I think it might be her TMOBILE service giving her trouble and she had her phone for two years. The sound is so loud that you don't have to walk out of a noisy environment to hear your party. Just turn up or down with the and - buttons on the side of the phone and you are all set. This was the main reason why I got this phone. You can also purchase a car free kit with this phone and the speaker is good, just be sure to roll up the windows and turn off the vents and you should be good for hands free driving while talking.

Phone keeps three call lists, Incoming Calls-calls that you answered, Missed Calls-Calls that you missed and Outgoing Calls-Calls that you make. Keeps about 20 phone numbers in each I believe.. so if you forget a phone number you can come back for it in one of those lists usually.. Contact list is plentiful. You can put names numbers street addresses and notes... Nice interface there and it will group the home numbers and the mobile numbers if you choose too.

Another feature you can do is the four activity switch in the middle.. Left is too lock the keypad. Right is for silent mode. Up is for recent calls, and down is for your contact list.. Nice feature

Other things that it has is an alarm clock and countdown timer but is not active when the phone is off so keep that in mind. It also has a scheduler, a calculator and a tip calculator for some of the tools. It also comes with three games, Tetris, Brick Attack and a drawing program called Doodle. I manage to do pretty well on the Brick Attack Game.

All in all not a bad phone, I just wish Kyocera corrected the battery issue and put an extendable attenna instead of a stub.
