OK if you're always near towers, but don't bother with this one...

Pros Small, light, easy to use. No nonsense phone when you just want to call someone.
Cons Goes bad frequently, poor reception/range, short battery life when you're far from a tower.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  I would advise staying away, unless you need something cheap (~$25 on ebay), or were using it only in town/city, where there was plenty of tower.
I received mine for free ($100 off) with my Sprint PCS Free & Clear plan. When I purchased my plan, my intent was to use the cell as a replacement for my land line, so I didn't care about imaging features, or many of the extra doodads on todays cells, I just wanted a phone that worked. The LG1010 seemed like a good portable phone, but turned out to be a little limited as far as actual usage.

Its good points:
It had a nice calendar that's not too hard to use, good address book, good volume control on the ringer and when you talk, good accessories (I got a second battery, the leather belt clip, and a hands free headband boom mike, all of which worked great). On the whole, the LG1010 was very easy to use and very compact.

The bad points, however, dragged the whole thing down.
Reception was horrible, voices were choppy even when I had the tower and one bar.
When I lived in town, battery life was fine, and the battery use was comparable to what was stated on the box (2.5 hours talk time, 4-5 days standby). However, I have moved out from town, am somewhat away from the towers now, and the phone sucks down the battery just so it can maintain a connection. Talk time is down to under two hours for a full charge, and I only get about 2-3 days standby. It has not been a problem so far, I charge every night and have the extra battery, but if I was the type of person that stayed on top of things, I would be in trouble.
Last but not least, I have called Sprint several times about bad reception, and even had to exchange my phone twice because of manufacture defect (extremely bad reception). Come to find out, the LG 1010 has a history of going bad. One of my wife's relatives had a 1010 and had to exchange it as well. The last tech I talked to from Sprint said the phone seems to be part of some "limited voluntary recall". Because of a problem some people get with reception and the phone's infrequent inability to drop an out of range tower to pick up a new one without having to first turn the thing off and remove the battery to reset it. The problem was intermittent, so they are replacing select phones with LGs newer version, the 1200. *sigh*
The end result was I ended up wasting my $100 off at the beginning of my plan on a phone that just didn't cut it for me.

Results: From my problems and those of others I know with this phone, I would advise staying away, unless you need something cheap (~$25 on ebay), or were using it only in town/city, where there was plenty of tower.

Recommended Options: Sprint has told me several times now, the best reception phones they have is anything made by Sanyo (4900, 8100, 5300).
My friend and my wife both have a Sanyo 4900, and they both love them (they are good). My sister and her husband both recently purchased the Sanyo 5300 camera phone and the reception and quality is even better than the 4900.
