The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this TV over all others for users that do not need 1080p resolution.
This was our first high dollar TV, and I had actually gone into Conn's to get a 40inch Samsung LCD, but they had this on sale as a previous years model, and boy am I glad I did.
I had the Samsungs at work and was never really satisfied with how standard TV looked on it. It was always kind of blurry. The LG's quality on standard definition is a night and day difference. We don't even seek out the HD channels as the standard def channels look so good.
Another think we wanted was the TV to function as a computer monitor and found that this TV is better than I could have imagined. We run a DVI to HDMI cable from the computer's video card and can run the TV at 1366 by 768 and it looks wonderful. The color is much better on the DVI to HDMI cable than when we tried the RGB cable.
The menus are easy to use, and have quick adjust functions so that you can adjust some things in the picture from the remote without going into the menu if you want.
Although we just installed flush mount speakers and a surround sound receiver, we did use the TV speakers for the first year we had it. They are very good speakers for their size.
Other than the lack of a picture in picture, I can't say that there is anything else that displeases me about this TV. If they weren't discontinued, I'd buy the 50" version of this TV right now.
