The Bottom Line:
This is dependable, efficient little phone for the money.
I have had this trusty little phone for 5 year. It was free with my first singular cell phone contract, which I have renewed three times now and am still using the same phone. I recently tried a Samsung SYNC for six months and hated that phone (see other review).
The LG has been dropped a million times, gotten wet and taken on many outdoor excursions, cross country trips and vacations. It has a few scuffs and scrapes these days. I know it has been replaced on the market by more advanced models but I wanted to document that this is a good phone.
This phone comes in one color that I know of, silver, but there are many accessories and face plate colors to choose from.
Thinking back over the years... I don't remember the battery ever dying during normal use, if I charge it fully, once a week. It is easy to use, since you can flip it open and scroll through the menus easily with one hand. It offers multiple phone numbers for each person in the address book.
It has great reception compared to the other phones I have used. On road trips, it seems to hang on to a call through an area with no signal...so the caller is still there when you regain signal. My friends know this so just wait for me to return, which for me is better than having to call back.
I have taken quite a few nice pictures, one which was taken on a trail ride from horse back, (of a friend on a horse in the middle of a running stream, surrounded by oak trees) was nice enough to frame and give as a present.
The outside caller ID display is convenient, and the internal display is a nice big full color picture background (which you can change). I have a ritual of taking a scenic picture on vacation, and using it as background until my next vacation. So I have a little happy thought every time I open the phone.
The phone light weight, fits in the hand well, and has a very user friendly menu. Yes, I was one of those people who had the VCR flashing 12:00 for quite a while before figuring it out, so don't consider this a technical review.
When the phone is closed and you accidentally hit the outside volume buttons, it doesn't mute the phone; it only switches the outside display to show the date. The replacement battery is less than $30.00
The LG C2000 comes with some cute standard ring-tones and is polyphonic and MP3 compatible. To upload a new ring-tone, just email it to the phone from your home computer.
This phone can be purchased for under $20.00 and the replacement battery costs about the same.
My one complaint is that the caller volume could be a little louder on the maximum setting. In a very loud area it is hard to hear the caller.
I love the phone; it's simple and trustworthy and that is what I wanted.
