The Bottom Line:
A great phone that says you dare to be different.
The LG Lotus is like the Nissan Cube of phones. It's fun, funky and functional. And obviously, the boxiness lends further to this comparison.
Call Quality: This phone was a replacement for an old Pocket PC Phone. As I decided that I didn't need all of the extra bells and whistles, it was great that the call and audio quality was a vast improvement. The speaker phone mode has good quality and is loud enough to hear while driving on the freeway.
Battery Life: With moderate usage the battery will last between two and three days.
Design: Sturdy and light. I wouldn't recommend dropping it too many times, but it has held up well with normal usage. The clam shell opens up to a large screen above and a full qwerty key board below. The "wer" and below are also the numeric pad. This phone is great for texting. Not as easy for number dialing.
Camera: With a 2.0 megapixel camera, this phone takes better pictures than some digital cameras from back in the day.
Cool Things: The voice activation feature is extensive and far ahead of many other phones on the market. The Lotus has a color screen while open or closed and an eclectic range of ring tones comes pre-installed on the phone.
You won't be as cool as if you had an iPhone or Blackberry, but for the price, this phone is functional, cool and makes a statement. Who else do you know that has a square phone? If a phone is something you consider an extension of your personal style, this may be just the right fit for you.
