LG Rumor Cell Phone From Sprint
Pros
size, QWERTY keypad, easy texting
Cons
camera is poor quality, does not hold up well if it gets wet.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend it, just purchase the extra insurance. Do not get it wet, even for a few seconds.
I bought the LG Rumor as an upgrade from a very basic cell phone. The reason for my purchase was the QWERTY keypad and the fact that the keypad was reasonable in size. This was a new phone for my husband and he has big hands.
One of the features that I like about this phone is the ability to switch from a normal cell phone keypad to the QWERTY keypad with ease. Both are large enough for man-sized hands, something many other phones lack. In addition, the screen orientation flips to match with each keypad. The main reason for my purchase was the QWERTY keypad. Texting was something that was near impossible on the old phone.
Another feature that I liked is the size of the phone. It is able to fit into a pocket or a compartment on the dashboard of the car.
Although it is equipped with a camera, it is not a feature that I use often. The picture quality of the camera is lacking. Although it is acceptable for a quick picture to send via email or to post on the web, for high-resolution photos a different camera would be a better option. If you subscribe to one of Sprint's data packages, you can send photos through picture mail and this is a handy feature.
There is an mp3 player included with this phone. Neither my husband nor I use this feature as we have separate mp3 players.
The screen is an acceptable size. Sprint has a data package that includes Sprint TV. You can view TV on the Rumor with no problem. If you are used to viewing videos on an mp3 player then you will be happy with the screen on the Rumor.
There are some issues with this phone. I find that the Blue Tooth connection is sub-par. I am not sure if this is an issue with the Blue Tooth headset or the phone. Another issue that I have had with the phone occurred when the phone was dropped it into a glass of iced tea (by accident). Ever since that incident, there have had issues with the phone turning on and off at will and the key lock feature does not work. It does not always hold a charge well, and my husband finds this whole situation very annoying. I did not purchase phone insurance through Sprint so I have to deal directly with LG. Purchasing another phone may be the best option at this point. I also have an issue with the end button sticking. This was an issue before it took a swim in the iced tea. It will stick in the down position and this creates a situation that I cannot end a call without having to take the battery out.
Overall, I really liked the phone before the iced tea incident. I most likely will replace it with another Rumor. There are customer service problems with Sprint that are a topic for another review. If you like the LG Rumor as much as I do, you may want to choose a carrier other than Sprint.
