LG Rumor - I do not recommend it.

Pros Great QWERTY keyboard. Flips easily between keyboard and numpad contexts. The contact application is smart.
Cons Terrible media player. Lame Camera. Nonstandard headphone jack. No music over bluetooth. Can't touch operate.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Steer clear if you can avoid it on your network. Not worth the extra money. I should have gotten a no frills phone.
I switched to this phone from the Samsung A737 because my new service provider didn't support a better phone. If you can, steer clear of the LG Rumor. The good reviews that it is getting here makes me suspicious of their veracity.

I'll start with the good. The keyboard slides out easily and is very cool for entering contacts and text messaging. I like the keyboard very much. The keys are well spaced, and it is very usable. When you slide it out, the orientation of the screen flips and there are two option buttons repeated "under" the screen in that orientation. You can still use the numbers and arrow ring and OK button in that orientation. It flips seemlessly to the other orientation when you flip back and keeps your context.

One more good. The contact application is pretty smart. If someone calls you from a different phone and they're already in your contacts, you can easily add that phone number to them and assign it a different icon; home, office, mobile or other. That is a very neat feature I use all the time. The icons appear next to the number when you navigate your contacts, so you can call the person on the phone you want.

Now for the bad. I picked this phone because it has bluetooth and an MP3 player, and I assumed that would meet my needs. The Rumor doesn't support A2DP, the protocol for sending stereo music over bluetooth. So, the Rumor doesn't send music wirelessly to my expensive bluetooth headphones. So, I bought a Samsung T10 to replace that feature of my former phone.

The MP3 player on the phone lists all tracks in order of the filename. You can't play all songs from a particular album or playlist. You can't select by artist. The only way I can use this phone is to load just one album or playlist that you want to listen to. Then it will play from the top down through the songs, not in the order they are in the playlist, but in the order of the filenames. You could manipulate the order only by renaming the files on your computer before you synch. This is not a viable option.

The jack on the Rumor is non-standard, so I had to buy an adapter for $11 at Radio Shack.

More bad: The keys are so small, the same size, and crammed together on the face that you can't operate it by touch. I used to use my former phone strictly by touch and memory with the use of a bluetooth headset while driving. The Rumor demands your eyes on the phone to operate. There is only one tactile reference point on the number 5, but it is too hard to navigate by touch from there to the other keys. I'm always fat fingering the tiny keys. I hit end when I meant back. The menu navigation dial and OK button are too tightly placed together. I'm trying to hit OK and I hit down arrow.

The camera take terrible quality pictures. There is no color vibrance, and poor light quality.

It functions just OK as a phone, but I find that the volume of the person on the other end seems to go up and down. No one has complained to me about the call quality.
