LGVX8700 Bluetooth Problems

Pros SLeek design, most features work just fine
Cons Bluetooth rarely ever works! Battery life questionable
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  A solid basic phone with horrible bluetooth problems that have yet to be fixed
Let me start off by saying I have always used LG phones as long as I have been with Verizon. They have always been fantastic phones that function well on the Verizon network. That is until this one.
I will proceed what I am about to write with this: Most people who give the phone good reviews do not use Bluetooth on an everyday basis or at all. The phone functions fairly well in most aspects, except when it comes to its bluetooth. The bluetooth is riddled with problems. To make a very lengthy customer service story short. I have been through 3 different LG VX8700 phones and all have not been able to permanently connect to any bluetooth device. I have tried over 5 different headsets and a Pioneer BT7000 car stereo integrated bluetooth head unit. It would connect initially and then within seconds to minutes drop off for no reason and not connect again. I have been told to wait for software version 2 for the phone, which I did, and it didn't work. I went through LG the first time and they replaced the phone. After paying for shipping and waiting about 2 weeks, I received a new phone that had the same issues. I went to Verizon and I got my third replacement tonight, thinking perhaps I just got unlucky twice. The Verizon store tech was great and confirmed all my Bluetooth problem suspicions. She said she would replace it, but she wouldn't guarantee anything would work. She said it was a known issue. Well once again, with software version 2, the same thing happens. I called LG and they deny any Bluetooth problems and want you to send it in for repair, which you have to pay shipping (for me again) and wait 7-14 days. LG consistently blames your bluetooth headset, even though I have told them I have tried many different known working bluetooth headsets with the same outcome. My old LG 8300 connects to everything with no problems; however LG is relentless when it comes to denying the problem and blaming it on the headset companies. LG told me they do not offer rebates, buybacks, or any resolution for this problem. The managers do not take phone calls, but they will call you back if you put your name on the complaint list. I will see what they say when they call me back.
If you Google LGVx8700 bluetooth problems and you will find many forums loaded with people with this same problem I called Verizon tonight after my replacement didn't work and they told me software version 3 is suppose to be coming out, but they had absolutely no idea when. I already waited for version 2 and that didn't work, so why should I wait for another version that is probably coming out and probably won't do squat. If you are a traveling person and need your Bluetooth to work consistently, then stay away from this phone. For those of you who will never use the Bluetooth feature, you will probably enjoy the phone.
On a better note after explaining to the Verizon phone Tech my situation, he offered me the best resolution he could, a choice of a couple phones of similar quality and features (don't know if they are refurbished phones or not). I took this offering (although I wasn't thrilled with the choice of phones, however, Verizon was more than fair on their part) and it and I need my Bluetooth to work. New Jersey recently passed a law which requires you to use a headset when driving. I'm not sure if I am done buying LG equipment, I guess I will wait to see how the supervisor handles the situation. I know Verizon has resolved the issue, but I like choosing my phones and I really do like LG phones (usually). I hope they could do something that would reaffirm my confidence in a future LG purchase. Verizon gets very good marks from me on their customer service! I will update on the situation.
