The Bottom Line:
If you looking for a smaller phone that just does the basic stuff this is your phone.
Unfortunately I've been forced to get a new phone. I've become what some might call attached to my LG VX-8300 phone. I've had it for two and a half years and we've been through a lot together. It was pretty beat up, so I was forced to get a new phone. My brother had the LG VX-8700, and had liked it a lot. Therefore I decided that I myself need to get one to replace my old faithful. When I got it I found myself finding as many flaws as possible. The first flaw I found was the buttons, the next is the battery life, and last was the glare of the screen. I did find many positive things about the phone also. The phone has great sound quality, great reception, nice camera, very sleek thin design, and a good vibration this has a story with it.
Buttons
This is the first thing I found wrong with the LG VX-8700. The buttons don't have any spacing in between one another. This making it easy to press a button on accident. When texting this is very bothersome because you push send when you don't want to push send, and you push letters that you don't want and have to go back and erase them. Thus if you text a lot I wouldn't recommend this phone.
Battery Life
I don't know if I just got a bad battery or what, but it hasn't impressed me thus far. I've had the phone for two months now, and I only get about a day and a half out of the battery. I don't use my phone a ton, so this concerns me on why this has happened. The battery lasted for three days the first couple of times. This could be just one bad battery, but I've talk to others who have the phone and they have the same complaint.
Glare
The glare of the very shiny screen is the last problem I found with the phone. When you are outside and the sun is out if you are behind it you can barely see anything on the phone. If you are in a room and there is light coming through the window you will see it in the reflection of the screen. In the dark it is fine, but in the light it causes some frustration. Also the cover of the phone, when you want to see if you have a missed call ,or have a new text message you can's see the screen very well because of the glare.
Sound Quality
The sound quality of this phone really took me by surprise. It has the best sound quality of any phone I've ever used. You are able to hear the person on the other line very clearly. It seems to cancel out the noise around you and the person on the other line comes in loud and clear. I have my ear piece on medium low , and I can hear in a large crowd of people. This is very nice to have in a phone.
Reception
This phone gets great reception just about anywhere. For example me and my buddy were up in the mountains, and he looked at his phone which was a Dare I believe and he had no service. I looked down at my phone and I had two bars. This really amazed me. In places where I normally got terrible service, I now get good service. Without a antenna you think it would be opposite, but don't let that fool you.
Camera
This is my second camera phone, and was a nice upgrade from the last one I had. When I took the first couple of pictures I was amazed at how nice of picture it was. This phone has a 2.0 mega pixels and preforms well for a mobile camera phone. The videos are also very clear. With other cameras I've noticed when you move during a film the quality of the picture decreases, but with this one it doesn't. I was really surprised with that.
Sleek Thin Design
This is what really sold me on this particular phone. When I picked it up I instantly noticed the light weight of the phone. This is very nice because when it's in your pocket it isn't weighing your pocket down and you barely notice it. The other thing I noticed was how nice it goes in and out of your pocket. With the titanium outside it really slides nicely. This also makes it very durable which is nice. The outside has good grip, so it makes it that much easier to open.
Vibration
This may sound funny but once you hear my story you will understand. The phone I had before this could vibrate a hole through a wood table if it had something sharp at the bottom. I kid you not, this phones vibrate was so powerful, and loud. This killed the battery and was annoying. With the LG VX-8700 you don't have this problem. It has a nice vibrate, not so soft that it isn't noticeable, but not so much that it's too much. They found a nice happy medium with this phone.
I'm satisfied with this phone, it's not very expensive, and it's a quality phone. Although there are some flaws they aren't major, and are things that can be dealt with. If you are an avid texter you will ahve to get use to the buttons being so close, but after the couple of months I've had the phone I've gotten use to it. If your looking for a new cheaper phone this is the one for you!
